Use Sextant with your AI

Sextant Web is website analytics and SEO for the sites you add. Its MCP server lets an AI app such as Claude or ChatGPT read your sites’ traffic and search data, answer questions about them and, when you ask, change settings or run research for you. The AI works only on the sites you can open, at your own level on each one.
Connect
- You need a Sextant account with at least one site.
- In your AI app, add Sextant from its connector directory, or add a custom connector (a remote MCP server) with the address
https://app.sextantweb.com/mcp. - Sign in to Sextant when the AI app asks, then approve the access. Choose read only if the AI should never change anything.
- Ask, for example: “Which pages got the most visits last week?”
What the AI can do
- Read: traffic, pages, sources, sessions, goals and funnels; SEO data such as the business profile, saved keywords, site audits and Google search data (when Search Console is connected); usage and limits.
- Change, when you ask: goals, funnels, segments, notes, short links, tracking options, the business profile, saved keywords, rank trackers, site limits and people.
- Paid research: keyword, competitor, backlink and AI visibility lookups use the workspace’s monthly Research credit. The AI asks you before each one. Every paid lookup is saved, and opening it again is free.
Each Sextant action is its own tool, named after the action (for example sites_get or analytics_getWebsiteStats). Tools that only read are marked read only, so your AI app can run them without asking. Tools that change or remove data are marked so the app asks you first.

What stays with you in the app
Creating your account, API keys, plans and payment, deleting sites, workspaces or your account, resetting data and ownership transfers. The AI cannot do these.
Your data
Sextant sends your AI app only the data it asks for, on your behalf, and only while it is connected. Sextant does not use your data to train AI models. The privacy policy has the details.
Problems
- The AI says it is not signed in, or its access expired: reconnect Sextant in your AI app.
- A site is missing: the AI sees only the sites you can open. Ask the site’s Owner to invite you.
- “Paid”, “Needs approval” or a refusal: the action costs Research credit, makes a change you approve first, or needs a higher level on that site. Approve it, or ask an Admin.
- Google search data is empty: connect Search Console in the site’s Settings › Integrations.
- To disconnect: remove the Sextant connector in your AI app.
